The Power of Ant Ban through indirect contact

This is a video taken to illustrate how effective Ant Ban is. Unlike other products in the market, we did a video recording of indirect spray contact on the ants. The white stuff that the ants are eating is a sweet that is used to attract them. 

Notice that the moment Ant Ban was sprayed around them, the ants acted in a hysterical way. They started evacuating from the sweet and tried to escape. Some might have escaped while the rest died on the spot. This is what we meant by indirect contact with Ant Ban.

Note: Ant Ban is colourless and the white circle around the ants is produced by Ant Ban as a marking for you to know that the chemical is around them. Also, Ant Ban shouldn't be sprayed too close and should be sprayed away from the surface at about 10 to 15cm.

Now, this is an important discussion when we talk about how can get rid of pest infestation such as bed bugs, cockroaches, ants, termites, etc. The first solution that comes to our mind would be to engage a pest control company to deal the problem.

Yes, they can help you get the job done but have you ever wondered, how much you will be spending to get them to rid these pest from your house? We will list down the feedback from our customers who used to engage pest control companies.

1. Engaging pest control companies is not a one time deal. These companies often offer packages which require follow ups (i.e. they will have to come to your homes 2 to 3 times for follow up which incur more cost).

Q: Can Ant Ban be used on cockroaches?

A: Yes, Ant Ban can be used to kill cockroaches.

     It may not kill the cockroaches instantly and the cockroaches normally go away and die. In the process, the Ant

    Ban’s chemical on the cockroaches will spread and infect other cockroaches or insects at its nesting ground.

Q: Is Ant Ban safe if there is direct contact on humans?

A: All chemicals are dangerous if there is contact through the eyes or mouth. However,

    Ant Ban is safe on the human skin and there is no known cases that we are aware of

    that causes serious breathing problems on humans.

    Having said that, it is better to take precautions and do not use near or close to

    those who are suffering from asthmas or other breathing problem. 

Q: Can Ant Ban be used on lizards?

A: Yes, Ant Ban can be used to kill lizards based on the principles of the body

     temperature that permethrin reacts. Lizard normally go away and die. 

Q: Can Ant Ban be used after its expiry date?

A: Yes, However, its effectiveness maybe slightly decrease.

Q: Can Ant Ban be used for Bed Bugs and Termites?

A: Yes, Ant Ban works effectively for all insects especially Bed Bugs and Termites. Duration of death will be based on the body mass of the insect. Many customers have used Ant Ban for Bed Bugs and Termites and they are satisfied with the results.

How do you use Ant Ban on your dining table

Ants have a very strong and sensitive sense of smell and they can detect the presence of food from miles. They are especially attracted to sweet food.

Some customers have called and enquire about how Ant Ban can be used on dining tables. Well, before we even begin, let us think through, how do Ants end up on the dining table?

First reason would be the presence of food on the table. When we eat, we are sure to drip or drop some small food particles on the table, causing this to attract Ants to come to our table. Next, ants will only be able to appear on our table either by crawling up from the table legs or if you table is leaning to a wall and they scale up from there.

Here is a suggested method on how you can apply Ant Ban to prevent ants from crawling to your dining table.

Once Ant Ban is applied, ants will not come near it and if they do either by touching it or be near it, they will go into a spasm and die.

What should you do if there are Bed Bug on your mattress?

Having Bed Bugs in your room and on your mattress can be a nightmare!

Unlike ants, bed bugs bite you without you realizing it at all. Sometimes, when you wake up to check the bites, they are simply out of your sight!

I have experienced that nightmare and initially, I was very lazy to get rid of it. Eventually, I got irritated by it and decided to do my best to get rid of it once and for all.

Here are some of the common areas you should take note of when getting rid of Bed Bugs:

Some of the common areas that Bed Bugs tend to hide are shown in the picture. If you use Ant Ban, it will work wonders as Ant Ban is odourless, colourless and greaseless. Just keep applying and you will notice that the Bed Bugs will slowly die off. Most importantly, it is to get rid of the eggs before it hatch.

What are the uses of Permethrin?

Have you ever wondered what or who uses Permethrin?

Here is a simple illustration to share with everyone about the usefulness of Permethrin and why it is safe (used in the right amounts of course).

Ant Ban and CONTACK uses Permethrin to keep you safe from insects/pest, ensuring you to have a good time and be protected.

Comparison between Permethrin and Deet

As you know in the market, there are many types of insect repellents available for use. Some of the repellents use natural ingredients from plants that create a scent to block of the receptors of insects (mosquitoes, sandflies, chiggers etc) from finding us. But this is temporary and once this evaporates off, they will be back for you.

There are quite a handful of repellents that use Deet as their main active ingredient. However, there are some side effects when using Deet as compared to Permethrin products.

Here are some quick facts taken from Sawyer, one of the leading brands in insect repellents. They did a comparison about Permethrin vs. Deet.


Quick Facts :
1. Permethrin is over 2,250 times more toxic to ticks than humans; so just a little bit provides
    great protection safely.
2. The EPA states "...There is reasonable certainty that Permethrin-treated clothing poses no
    harm to infants or children".
3. Put directly on the skin, typically less than 1% of active ingredient is absorbed into the body;
    DEET can be absorbed at over 20 times that rate.
4. Exposure risk of Permethrin-treated clothing to toddlers is 27 times below the EPA's Level of
    Concern (LOC).
5. A 140-pound person would have no adverse health effects if exposed to 32 gms of
    permethrin/day. There is less than 1 gram of permethrin in an entire bottle of clothing treatment.
6. A 5% cream (10 times the dose) is recommended to treat children and infants with mites called
    scabies.

Permethrin is also one of our active ingredients in our products. So you can rest assured about its safety.

BED BUGS AND DO-IT-YOURSELF (DIY) TREATMENT

Life Cycle
Female bed bugs lay from one to twelve eggs per day. Each egg can take between 6 to 17 days to hatch and the baby can begin to feed immediately. Bed bugs require a blood meal in order to molt. Bed bugs reach maturity after five molts. In warm climate like Singapore, the developmental time (egg to adult) is about 10 to 21days. Adult bugs can live for several months without food. The adult's lifespan may encompass 12-18 months.

Treatments
Residual repellants do have an important role to play when your homes are infested with bed bugs. Whilst some may seek professional help, the majority of cases can be contained through self treatment. Whatever option, remember that you cannot eradicate them in one treatment. It will take weeks, if not months and some sacrifice like throwing away some of the household items. You will also have to continue to monitor for bed bugs daily, keep down clutter and vacuum previously infested areas regularly.

Do-It-Yourself
If you prefer to DIY, then you must make sure to get an Insecticide that is both a Killer and Repellant (not just a repellant) as you have to kill the adult bugs first and leave the residue to work on the nymphs (babies), before they reach adult stage.

Residual Insecticide & Repellant
Finding the right insecticide may not be easy as there are many considerations since you have to spray on bed frames, mattress, pillows, bolsters, sofa, closets, etc. and later you need to sleep and rest on them. You have to make sure that the insecticide is safe for home use, will not pollute your home with foul smell, can work effectively on bugs, will not stain your furniture, etc. A good insecticide is one that will help you to sleep peacefully without the bugs attack after one or two application as you notice the bug population declining.
PERMETHRIN VS BED BUGS
Permethrin is an odorless synthetic chemical known to be the most effective to get rid of bed bugs. It is one of the active ingredients used in ANT BAN. After spraying and killing the bugs, the residue will continue to be active for several more days. Regular spraying will strengthen the repellant to gradually destroy the bug population  
ANT BAN DIY TREATMENT
It will take 8-12 weeks for a full treatment to eradicate bed bugs infestation. The 1^st stage is to kill the adult bugs and continue to work on the nymphs (babies) before they become adult. 

1^st week

Spray the infested area DAILY for a week. Commonly the infested areas are the bed frame, mattress, pillow, bolster, sofa, dressing tables, wardrobe, crevices, etc. Also spray areas where you spotted the bugs’ presence. Items such as bed sheet, pillow and bolster cases, etc. should be removed and boil, sun or iron to kill the bugs and eggs. Some heavily infested items may need to be discarded.  

2^nd & 3^rd week

Spray the infested area once every 3days to ensure that nymphs are destroyed immediately.

4^th – 8^th week

As some bugs are resilient and may not succumb to insecticides immediately, continue to spray the infested area once a week until you are satisfied that you have destroyed them completely. Not one bug should be spared or the cycle will start again within weeks.

MIGRATION

Bed bugs migrate quickly and adapt easily to new environment. When you stayed in hotel during vacation, you never know a bug will hide or lay eggs in your luggage. You unknowingly carry them home and the bug will multiply quickly.

PREVENTION

Whenever you go for a trip, make sure to spray the entire luggage with ANT BAN. The residue will stay for several days. When you return home, remember to spray your luggage immediately so that any bugs or eggs will not survive.

Over the weekend, Ant Ban was used at a Camping Kitchen in the outskirts of Singapore. It was sprayed in the kitchen area and a lot of insects had indirect contact with it. This is what we found:

Where should you spray Ant Ban for Bed Bug problems on your bed?
